Duplicate Picture Finder for Windows

You've accumulated terabytes across vacation folders, phone backups, and screenshot dumps. Duplicate Photos PC finds every copy—exact matches and similar shots alike—and clears them out without risk.

Why You Need a Duplicate Picture Finder

Hard drives fill up fast. A single folder synced across three devices, screenshots saved twice, camera burst frames kept by accident—and suddenly you're storing the same image five ways. Each copy costs you storage, and cloud backup fees add up.

A duplicate picture finder does the heavy lifting. Instead of manually scanning thousands of files, the app groups identical and near-identical photos, shows them side by side, and lets you delete the extras in one click. Everything goes to the Recycle Bin first, so you can undo if something looks wrong.

Duplicate Photos PC handles both byte-for-byte copies and visually similar shots: burst frames from your camera, the same photo cropped differently, messenger rescales, slightly edited versions. One scan catches them all.

How to Find and Delete Duplicate Pictures

  1. Add your folders Open the app. Click to add your Pictures folder, Downloads, an external drive, a NAS mount—any combination of locations. The app scans whatever you point it at.
  2. Choose your scan mode Pick 'Exact only' for speed if you only care about byte-identical duplicates. Pick 'Similar + exact' if you want to catch burst frames, cropped versions, and messenger rescales too.
  3. Scan and review Hit Scan. The app groups duplicates as it works. Open each group to see full metadata side by side—resolution, size, date, all visible at a glance.
  4. Keep the best, delete the rest The app auto-picks the sharpest or highest-resolution copy in each group. Accept that choice or manually select which one to keep. Then click Move to Recycle Bin.

What Makes This Duplicate Picture Finder Different

No install needed. Unzip the folder anywhere—your desktop, a USB stick, a network drive—and open the .exe. Duplicate Photos PC runs portable, no admin elevation, no registry mess.

Fully offline. The app never phones home. No telemetry, no cloud scan, no analytics. Every byte stays on your disk.

Fast on massive libraries. Parallel workers and cached results mean a second scan of the same folders finishes almost instantly.

Safe deletion. Everything lands in the Windows Recycle Bin with one-click undo. Nothing is hard-deleted until you manually empty the bin yourself. If the app made a mistake, you're covered.

Common Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Free forever, MIT licensed. No trial, no locked delete button, no Pro tier, no watermark.

Do I need an account?

No. The app opens straight to the main window. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into.

Will it find similar photos or only exact copies?

Both. Use 'Exact only' mode for byte-identical matches, or 'Similar + exact' to catch burst frames, crops, resaves, and light edits.

Does it work on Windows 11?

Yes. Windows 10 and Windows 11, 64-bit only.

Can it scan Google Photos or iCloud?

No. This is a local disk tool. It reads folders on your PC—internal drives, external drives, mounted network shares. Cloud libraries that aren't mirrored to disk are out of scope.
